Mahtomedi students recently participated in the Minnesota State High School League One-Act Play competition. Yuktika Samtani (Class of 2027 student and theatre performer) shared the following summary of the event and an opportunity for community members to see it too!
“The One-Act play brings together schools from all over to showcase their talent through short, 35-minute plays. The goal is to highlight creative storytelling, strong performances, and the ability to make the most of the limited stage time. Each play is judged on various factors, including script quality, acting, direction, set design, and overall execution. In this competition, each school can bring only 20 students for the cast and crew, along with two adult chaperones. Our team had an amazing time both performing and watching the shows from other schools. We performed on Thursday alongside four other schools, and the energy was incredible. This year, Mahtomedi High School performed Soundscapes, a play by Claudia Haas and Sarah Kraning. The story centers around a young girl named Iris, who uniquely experiences the world due to her synesthesia. Looking ahead, we’ll be performing Soundscapes again for our own audience. Be sure to grab your tickets and join us for another set of fantastic performances!”
